Eagle Picher Industries

Eagle-Picher products contained a high percentage of asbestos until 1975. By then their products were in virtually every power plant, shipyard, petrochemical plant and steel mill in North America. The Railroad industry also invested heavily in Eagle-Picher products. Between 1930 and 1975 Eagle-Picher products were considered the industry standard.

Eagle-Picher was founded in 1916 by way of a merger of the Eagle White Lead and a lead mining company owned by Oliver Picher. They were once the second largest producer of lead and zinc products in North America. To diversify the company moved into the insulation business.

Super 66 Insulating Cement was first produced in 1930. It was a dry mix product shipped to the end use site in 25-pound double walled paper bags. The material was then mixed with water and applied by trowel or hand. Super 66 mix was over 40% asbestos. Eagle-Picher developed a slightly different asbestos containing insulating cement in 1943 as part of their war effort naming it 43 insulating cement. Eagle-Picher products were lightweight and fireproof. Exactly what the targeted industries were looking for.

Eagle Picher was a supplier to the US Military. To keep pace, the Canadian Navy followed.

Presumed exposure means that if you worked in one of these industries before 1982 you had exposure to Eagle Picher asbestos products. Many other high heat industries also used EP products including, but not limited to, paper mills, canning facilities, manufacturing plants and merchant and navy ships.

At a 2006 trial in Garza vs. Asbestos Corporation Limited evidence was introduced that Asbestos Corporation Limited who owned and operated the King Beaver mines in Thetford Mines, Quebec, was the exclusive supplier of asbestos fibre to Eagle Picher Industries.

A compensation fund was established by Eagle-Picher following their 1991 bankruptcy to compensate mesothelioma claimants. If you worked with Eagle-Picher products or had second-hand exposure to a person who worked in one of the presumed industries and have developed mesothelioma as a result Brown Law can help you apply for compensation.

Client Testimonials

I'm so glad that I contacted Brown Law Office as soon as I got into my car accident. They made the process so easy on our family and helped us get a substantial cash settlement. I would recommend Brown Law Firm to anyone injured in a car accident.

After trying to deal with the insurance company myself, I realized that they would never treat me like the valued client I thought I was. In my opinion, you cannot handle a motor vehicle accident file without a lawyer on your side, and I was glad the Brown Law Office handled my file from beginning...

Kim D.

I am so glad to have been helped by a law firm that treated me like family from the day I walked in. They've got a complete no-quit, yet down to earth attitude. I will instantly refer to your firm anyone I know who needs a litigation lawyer.
